ASSESSING THE IMPACT OF THE PUMPAROUND REGIME ON THE HYDRODYNAMIC REGIME IN A COMPLEX DISTILLATION COLUMN

Abstract. This study analyzed and assessed the impact of the proposed pumparound regime (with increased flow rates and reduced temperature difference between the withdrawal and return flow of the pumparound) on the hydrodynamic regime of a complex distillation column. Calculations of the flooding coefficient for the pumparound zone were performed using the methodology presented in the study. In addition, a methodology for determining the onset of tray flooding and determining the optimal fluid flow rate of the pumparound.
